K WWS i PWO
The 1 K WWS PWO i grew out of the former 6th and 16 AWW i PWO (6th us 16th Air Army) and includes the Leningrad Military District (can look deeply that one of the still to Comrade Ulyanov called) and Moscow. It is divided into six brigades of the air-defense and covers the cosmos airspace from the Barents Sea to the Baltic Sea and a large Gebit via Moscow from.
first BrWKO, Headquarters Severomorsk (Leningrad Military District)
Primary responsibility is the protection of naval bases on the Kola Peninsula and the support of the Northern Fleet in the Barents Sea. The 1st BrWKO emerged from the 21 K PWO (21 Air Defence Corps). The 6959th AB is divided into three squadrons with MiG-31B, two Su-27S squadrons and one training squadron Su-27UB. The 458th IAP (MiG-31B) and parts of the 9th IAP (Su-27S) were merged. The 1st BrWKO characterized above all by the heavy air defense.

Formerly 54th PWO and 149 K BAD (bombers Division). Covers northern Baltic Sea and from the White Sea. Reunification of the 174th OIAP (MiG-31BS) with the 722nd BAP (Su-24M) and the 98th ORAP (Su-24MR) at the 6964th AB. Three fighter squadrons, three front bomber squadrons, three reconnaissance squadrons. Resolution of 67 BAP and the 54th K PWO. Former 177th IAP of Lodejnoje Polje to the 6961st Besowets AB moved. The AB was previously renovated and modernized. Reduction to 24 Su-27UB Su-27S, and six by end 2010. 87. AB in Lewashowo is the former 138th OSAP.

third BrWKO, Headquarters Kalinigrad (Leningrad Military District)
reorganized. At the 6967th AB is the former 689th stationed OIAP of the Baltic Fleet and the WWS was assumed. Reduction to 24 Su-27 and 6 Su-27UB end of 2010. At the 6962nd AB is the former 4th OBAP stationed. The plan is to modernize the Su-24M2 aircraft to 2015. The 3rd BrWKO based exclusively on the monitoring of the Baltic Sea and the protection of the Baltic Fleet. With periodic meetings with NATO aircraft, including Polish F-16CJ, Finnish and German Euro Fighter Typhoon F/A-18C.

Former 105th AD. Reunification of the 455th BAP and 47 RAP at the 7000th AB with two front bomber squadrons, a reconnaissance squadron, and a transport squadron. Inflow of two Su-34 by the end of the year. Planned are 16 Su-34 by 2011. The helicopter associations retain the old name.

Planned are 24 and 12 MiG-31BM Su-35 2015. Resolution of the 28th IAP in Kubinka. The 6963rd AB in Khalino houses the former 14th IAP, since 2009 with three fighter squadrons of MiG-29SMT and a training squadron with six MiG-29UBT.
